[Aavso-photometry] Under the pole 'wrong way' points

Hi all!

I'd like to know if anyone else has experienced the same issue as I
have. When I point toward the NW sky nearer to the horizon, the attempt
to move left (under the pole) even for just a few degrees, my scope
wants to slew westward (to the right) and do the 23 hour hop to the
object 'the long way'. This only happens when I am beneath the pole
star moving left, so if I sync on a star far enough left and then slew
right, I am OK, so I can manage it.

My setup is a Meade LX-200 12", using ECU for pointing and MaximDL for
imaging and pointing.

I've looked through the ECU and Maxim menus and cannot find any 'reverse
directions under pole' or 'choose shortest star-hop distance' menu
items, so I am baffled as to why this happens, though I wouldn't put it
past Meade paddle software either.

Any advice would be helpful. I am concerned, because if I am to change
to unattended scripting of my program, I don't want to discover all my
cables wrapped around the scope in the morning.

And Mr. Koppelman! We all take our telescopes and laptops camping, geez!
