Hey, all. ASAS-3 has put up a newly detected source at RA = 16:00:48,
DEC = -48:46:12. Info below:

http://www.astrouw.edu.pl/cgi-asas/asas_disc/160048-4846.2,3525

Please try to confirm the object and post the FITS file where
we can get it. Or send it to me at aaronp at aavso.org if you don't
have access to a hosting service and I'll put it on the AAVSO
site for others to download. (Attachments aren't allowed on the list.)

If you do see something, please send the FITS image first (so
we can get the word out quickly) but then take time series photometry
for as long as possible. It is bright so go for an SNR of 100 and V filters
shouldn't be a problem. If we determine it to be a CV then you can
switch to unfiltered. But if it is a classical nova then you'll want to
stick with V. So while we aren't sure be safe and use a V filter. That
way you can be sure your data will be useful!
