Finally got a chance to look at this. There is a gear housing between 
the servo and the worm gear and the cover of that sort of popped off. 
It looks like it is plastic and part of it cracked. We just snapped it 
back together and the motor worked again. I was using this opportunity 
to clean the mount, too, so we took it apart pretty much down to the 
last bolt and cleaned and relubed it. Then we just used some 
electrician's tape to reinforce the gear housing. It seems like it will 
work fine but if it pops again it will be easy to replace with a new 
part from Losmandy.

So I should be back in business after I re-polar align (which I haven't 
done in a couple years now, thank god.)
