Hello David;

I am using the same camera and software as you.  I have 1.7 mHz processor, 
and 768 megs of ram, and I am only able to open about 50 images (binned 1x1) 
before things seem to gag as you say.  

One think that you might consider, I made my image area square--1470 x 1472 
pixels and saved about 1/3 of each image that I was wasting anyway.  This 
should be a 50 % increase in capability.  

I have concluded that the computer needs to be way bigger--so maybe its a 
windows thing.
