Greetings, all. I'm back from my 3 week vacation, two of them spent
meeting my wife's family in the Philippines. Internet access is not easy
there and I was pleasantly surprised to see all the work and success being
done on the TRES-1 object.
I've mentioned before here and in CCD Views, that the AAVSO is developing
a formal transit search program. We've been working with Tim Castellano
since May to design the program. He spoke at the AAVSO Spring Meeting. We
hope to have his presentation online soon - I'll post here when it is up.
Here are some things we've recently done to get the program off the
ground:
- We have added the most popular two transit objects to our validation
file. You can now submit your observations using any of these names:
1st object: 1900+36 or GSC02652-0 or "TRES-1 *"
2nd object: 2158+18 or V376 PEG
Please submit your past data and any future data when you are ready.
- We have made a chart for TRES-1. It has 3 comparison stars with
Arne's photometry. It can be downloaded at this URL:
http://www.aavso.org/cgi-bin/searchcharts3.pl?name=tres-1
- We have made a new exoplanet transit object list for the MyNewsFlash
service. Right now it only has the above two objects in the list but we'll
add all of the transit candidates the new program will cover over time.
We've begun working on a new section on the web site for this program.
I'll post here when it is ready.
The next TRES-1 transit is predicted for tomorrow. Good luck!
Aaron
