[Aavso-photometry] How can I beat the FLIP?

It seems to me that binning is going the wrong way. I need either a
larger spread of star light or smaller pixels, not larger ones.

Brad,
Perhaps you could bin 2x2 or even 3x3...that might help as well as
defocusing. I've had the same problem and the only way I've gotten
around it is to put the scope on the "wrong" side of the mount when I
start observations and let it swing past the meridian without doing a
flip. I avoid having to do a flip at all costs.
