Hi again Derek,

Sorry for my belated reply, but just read your message.
You can find a 'B' scale chart for U Gem on AAVSO's website as follows:

_http://www.aavso.org/charts/GEM/U_GEM/UGEM-B.GIF_
(http://www.aavso.org/charts/GEM/U_GEM/UGEM-B.GIF)

For a wide field finder chart, you can try this:

_http://www.aavso.org/charts/Constellation/GEM.GIF_
(http://www.aavso.org/charts/Constellation/GEM.GIF)

VSO'ing is quite similar to chasing asteroid/graze occultations. Just star
hop to the field of the variable until you make sure that you match star
patterns on the chart to what you see in the eyepiece!

Have fun and good luck in CA and OR!

Haldun (MHI)

However I would like to know where U Gem is located.. (Haven't tried ..
Yet)..

Subject: [AAVSO-DIS] Happy Birthday U Gem

150 years ago, on December 15th, J. R. Hind discovered U Gem while
searching for asteroids in Gemini. To honor U Gem's century and a half
of amazing, entertaining and teaching us, we are throwing a little party
for her on CVnet. Everyone is invited.

http://cvnet.aavso.org

Articles, pictures and lightcurves are the party favors. Personal
anecdotes and stories of observations or frustrations with U Gem are
welcome on cvnet-discussion.

The only thing missing is a perfectly timed outburst in the next 24
hours. We'll see if U Gem shows up for her own party or not, eh?

Regards,
Mike Simonsen
